This policy explains how Bestari Tech collects, uses, and looks after the personal information you share with us as a student, a prospective student, or a visitor to our website.

1. Who we are

Bestari Tech operates as an online school for AI development, based at Level 14, Menara Maxis, KLCC, 50088 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We offer structured online courses in AI and machine learning to students primarily in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region.

When this policy uses "we", "us", or "our", it refers to Bestari Tech. When it uses "you", it refers to any person whose personal data we hold — whether you are a current student, someone who has enquired about our courses, or a visitor to our website at bestarite.pro.

For any questions about this policy or about how we handle your data, you may write to us at [email protected] or telephone us at +60 16-385 7294.

2. What information we collect

We collect information in a small number of ways, and only when there is a clear reason to do so.

Information you give us directly. When you use our contact form, enrol in a course, or write to us by email, you provide us with details such as your name, email address, telephone number, and sometimes a brief description of your current level of experience or study goals. We use this information to respond to your enquiry, to administer your enrolment, and to communicate with you about your course.

Payment information. If you enrol in a course, payment is processed through our payment partner. We do not store your card details. Our payment partner holds that data under their own privacy policy, which we will share with you at the point of enrolment.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit our website, we collect standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. We use this information through analytics tools to understand how our website is being used and to improve it over time. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you individually.

Cookies. We use a small number of cookies to make our website work properly and to collect anonymised usage data. You can read about this in more detail in our Cookie Policy.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we hold about you for the following purposes:

  • To respond to enquiries and provide information about our courses and intakes.
  • To administer your enrolment and manage your participation in a course.
  • To send you written feedback on your submitted work, as part of your course.
  • To send occasional updates about new intakes, course changes, or school news — only where you have expressed an interest or given us permission to do so.
  • To maintain records required for our legal and financial obligations.
  • To improve our website and course materials based on aggregated usage data.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases, as applicable under Malaysian law and applicable data protection principles:

  • Contractual necessity — where processing is needed to fulfil the terms of your enrolment agreement with us.
  • Legitimate interests — where we have a reasonable business interest in the processing, such as maintaining records or improving our services, and that interest is not outweighed by your rights.
  • Consent — where you have given us clear consent for a specific purpose, such as receiving marketing communications. You may withdraw that consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with a legal obligation.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law.

Enrolment records, course communications, and submitted work are typically retained for seven years after the end of your final course with us. This is to allow us to provide references, respond to disputes, and meet our financial record-keeping requirements.

If you have enquired about a course but not enrolled, we will retain your contact information for twelve months, after which it will be deleted unless you have asked us to stay in touch.

Anonymised analytics data is retained indefinitely, as it cannot be linked back to any individual.

6. Sharing your information

We share your personal data with a small number of service providers who support our operations. These include our payment processing partner, the email platform we use to send course communications, and the analytics tools that help us understand website usage. Each provider operates under a data processing agreement with us and is not permitted to use your data for any other purpose.

We may also share data where we are legally required to do so — for example, in response to a valid request from a regulatory authority.

We do not transfer personal data outside Malaysia except where a service provider operates internationally and has appropriate safeguards in place. Where such transfers occur, we ensure that they are handled in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

7. Your rights

You have the following rights in relation to the personal data we hold about you:

  • Access — you may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal data about you and, if so, provide you with a copy.
  • Correction — you may ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data we hold about you.
  • Deletion — you may ask us to delete your personal data where there is no longer a lawful basis for us to hold it.
  • Objection — you may object to processing carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests.
  • Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please write to us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and, in any case, within thirty days.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Our website uses HTTPS throughout. Access to student records is limited to staff who need it to carry out their role.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is entirely without risk. If you believe your data has been compromised in any way, please contact us promptly.

9. Cookies

For full information about the cookies we use and how to manage them, please read our Cookie Policy.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. Where a change is significant, we will notify current students by email.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our website or participation in a course after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
