Why Bestari Tech

What sets the studio apart

This page sets out, plainly, what we offer and how it compares to other approaches. No marketing language — just a clear account of how the studio works and why that matters.

Six things that shape the experience

Teachers with active practices

Course material is written by the people who teach it. Each teacher works in AI or data engineering and updates their material based on what they're doing now, not what was current several years ago.

Written feedback, not scores

Every piece of submitted work receives a written response from the teacher. This is the central commitment of the studio. It cannot be delivered at scale, which is why we keep cohorts small.

Small cohorts by design

Each course intake is capped at sixteen students. This is a deliberate structural choice, not a marketing claim. It ensures the teacher can read each person's work with real attention.

Projects you actually build

The courses are structured around small, complete projects with a defined aim. You produce something real at the end of each stage — not a filled-in exercise, but a project you can refer to and build on.

Defined durations

Six, twelve, or twenty weeks — each course has a clear end date. You can plan around it, manage it alongside other work, and know exactly when you will have completed the material.

Malaysia-based, in MYT

All sessions run in Malaysian time. Pricing is in ringgit. The studio is based at Menara Maxis in KLCC. This matters if you've tried to join overseas courses and found the timezone, currency, or cultural fit awkward.

In Detail

Expertise

Teachers who have done the work themselves

Each teacher at Bestari Tech is employed because they have an active professional practice, not because they have completed a teacher-training programme. Reza Azman has been working in data engineering for eight years. Nurul Izzah leads ML work at a fintech company. Shaiful Karim has twelve years across model deployment and data infrastructure.

This matters because AI development is a field that changes quickly. A teacher who works in the field keeps their course material grounded in what actually happens in practice, not in a fixed curriculum assembled some years ago and unchanged since.

Methods

A curriculum built around current tools and methods

The courses use the tools that practicing data scientists and ML engineers use day to day. Students work with Python, standard ML libraries, and the kinds of datasets and problems that appear in real work. The aim is to avoid the gap between what you learn in a course and what you need when you start working on real problems.

Each course is reviewed before every intake. Where the field has moved in a meaningful direction, the curriculum is updated. This is a small school, which means it can move quickly when that's called for.

Support

A teacher who reads your work and writes back

The written feedback loop is the defining feature of the studio. When you submit work, a person reads it. They write a considered response. They note what is working, what needs attention, and how to think about the next step. This happens at every stage of every course.

Outside of submission feedback, teachers are available through a course forum during the week. Response times are typically within 24 hours. This isn't a help desk — it's a teacher you can ask a specific question and expect a useful answer from.

Pricing

Transparent pricing in Malaysian ringgit

Courses are priced at RM 480 (Studio Foundations), RM 1,140 (Studio Practice), and RM 1,950 (Long-form Programme). These prices are fixed and include everything: course materials, live session access, recordings, and written feedback throughout. There are no separate registration fees, no subscription tiers, and no upsells during the course.

For the Long-form Programme, a two-instalment payment option is available on request. All payments are handled in MYR and processed locally.

Outcomes

Work you can refer to when the course ends

By the end of Studio Foundations, students have a structured project — a small model, evaluated against real criteria, with a written report. Studio Practice builds on this to produce two or three project-level pieces. The Long-form Programme ends with a portfolio review conducted by a senior teacher.

These aren't certificates — they're pieces of work with substance. They can be shared with colleagues, referenced in interviews, or simply used as a foundation for the next thing you want to build. What you take from the studio is in the work itself.

What Sets Us Apart

The things that aren't easily replicated

The final portfolio review

The Long-form Programme ends with a portfolio review conducted by a senior teacher. This is a substantive, written assessment of the full body of work produced during the course — not a grade, but a considered professional evaluation.

Course materials updated each intake

Before each cohort begins, the teacher reviews the material and revises what needs revising. You don't receive a course that was written three years ago and forgotten since.

Enrolment guidance before you pay

We encourage prospective students to write to us before enrolling. We'll suggest the right course level based on where you are. We'd rather you start at the right place than pay for something that isn't matched to your current stage.

A physical address and a local team

The studio is at Menara Maxis, KLCC. There are real people here. If you want to speak with someone before enrolling, that's possible. The school is not a global platform with a ticket queue — it's a small operation with a direct line.
