Case Studies
These accounts were shared with permission at the close of each student's final course.
Challenge
Syafiq had a background in Python scripting from his systems administration work but had never built a model. He had tried following online tutorials and found himself copying code without understanding what it was doing or why.
Solution
He enrolled in Studio Foundations. The written feedback early on was focused on asking him to explain his own decisions — why he'd chosen a particular approach, what he expected to happen, what actually happened. This pushed him to slow down and understand rather than proceed.
Outcome
By week six he had produced a small structured project — a classification model trained on tabular data, with a written report explaining every decision. He enrolled in Studio Practice the following intake and continued from there.

Challenge
Priya had completed an ML certificate programme elsewhere and could run standard models, but her evaluation methods were shallow. She didn't know how to interpret her metrics in context or when to trust her results.
Solution
Studio Practice gave her a teacher who reviewed her evaluation approach specifically. The feedback she received in weeks four through six challenged her to think more carefully about what her metrics were actually measuring and where they could mislead.
Outcome
Her final project included a detailed evaluation section that she later used in a presentation at her workplace. She described it as the piece of work she was most confident explaining to colleagues.

Challenge
Daniel had two years of data science experience and wanted to understand the full picture — from data engineering through to careful deployment. He'd worked on parts of ML pipelines but never end to end.
Solution
The Long-form Programme was a sustained five-month commitment. The data engineering phase in the first weeks was the hardest — he hadn't worked with pipelines formally. The feedback at each stage helped him understand not just what to fix but how the pieces connected.
Outcome
His portfolio review with Shaiful lasted nearly an hour. The feedback covered both the technical work and the reasoning behind design decisions. He described it as the most useful professional conversation he'd had in two years.
